Welcome to the
SAVE LEE ROAD Web Site. This site exists to provide you with information concerning the upcoming Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) plan for the widening of Riverside Drive, and specifically the effect of this GDOT road widening on the intersection of LEE ROAD and RIVERSIDE DRIVE.
GDOT plans to put a concrete triangle in the middle of Lee Road where Lee Road joins Riverside Drive. As a result of this concrete triangle, the ingress/egress of the existing Lee Road/Riverside Drive intersection will be dramatically affected.
The effects of this concrete triangle include:
1) You will
no longer be able to take a left onto Riverside Drive from Lee Road; and
2) Your
only turn from Lee Road will be a right onto Riverside Drive; and
3) You will
no longer be able to travel north on Riverside Drive (from downtown) and turn left onto
Lee Road from Riverside Drive; and
4)
Increased response times for fire, police and medical emergency personnel due to concrete triangle.
The neighborhood will effectively be cut off from using the Lee Road and Riverside Drive intersection like we have been able to do for the past many decades.
WHAT CAN YOU DO TO GET THIS CONCRETE TRIANGLE REMOVED FROM THE GDOT PLANS?
1) Contact your State Representatives (see names and addresses on other tabs)
2) Contact your County Commissioners (see names and addresses on other tabs)
3) Contact your City officials (see names and addresses on other tabs)
4) Contact your GDOT officials (see names and addresses on other tabs)
5) Contact your U.S. Representative (See name and address on other tabs)
